Faustina Pataras sheds tears of joy as she thanks Goshen Land for the new hope for her children

Faustina Pataras, 48, was weeping under the pine tree at Goshen Land's North Cambridge Condominium yard as she was recounting how she was able to enroll her college kids to school inspite of her family's financial crisis. Her laborer husband just had a brain operation a year ago after he fell from a scaffolding in a small construction project. Afterwards, finances were hard to come by, as the couple was also retrenched earlier from an apparel company at EPZA when it closed shop. In the meantime, June is fast approaching and her children need the money to enroll in college. Then a relative informed her of a job opening at Goshen Land for a sweeper at North Cambridge. "Kailangan mi ti trabaho," (We badly need a job), she said, as she wipes every tear that falls down her cheeks.
The mother of three was grateful as she proudly shared that her two kids were able to enroll because of her job, since her husband cannot be employed anymore for manual jobs. "Dakkel nga tulong ti pagserrek ko ditoy," (My job here is a big help for us), she added.
One of her kids enrolled in an education course while the other one enrolled in Veterinary Medicine. "Awan pag-asa anak ko nga maka-enroll no awan day toy nga trabahok", (My kids have no hope of enrolling in college if I wasn't given this job), she shared. ***Story Teller |
